ACRPS has published issue 23 of the bi-monthly peer-reviewed academic journal Siyasat Arabia, a journal devoted to political science and international relations. This edition includes the following studies: “The Rise of the Right and the Adoption of the Clash of Civilizations: When Democracy Spawns the Antithesis of Liberalism” (Azmi Bishara); “The Responsibility to Protect: The Revival of Humanitarian Intervention” (Mohammed Alwan); “The Consensual Experiment in Iraq: Theory, Application, Results” (Harith Hasan); “European-Russian Relations in the Energy Sphere: Pressures of Cooperation and Conflict of Interests” (Ahmed Qasim Hussein); “The Issue of the Moroccan Sahara: The Complex of Partition in Western Morocco: A Moroccan Vision” (Larbi Ben Ramadan); and “The Algerian Foreign Policy Crisis between the Legacy of Principles and the Calculation of Interests: Case Study of the ‘Arab Spring’” (Rabah Zeghouni). The Arab Opinion Index section covers “Trends in Arab Public Opinion on the 2016 US presidential Elections”. The issue deals with a number of key points in democratization in the Arab world in the period September 1 to December 1, 2016, as well as events in Palestine over the same period.
Also included in this edition are reviews of two important books: Yasser Djazaerly’s review of The Iran Wars: Spy Games, Bank Battles, and the Secret Deals that Reshaped the Middle East by Jay Solomon and Mohammed Muhareb’s review of The Boy Remains Missing by Shoshi Zaid. The issue also includes a report on the ACRPS conference “The Army in Politics During Democratic Transition in the Arab World” (Kamel Terchi).
