This paper examines the Algerian counter-terror experience as part of the global attempt to confront this phenomenon. It focuses on three focal points: The first is a historical dimension, which details relevant turning points, while presenting a periodization that reflects the process of its development. The second part documents on the main strategies utilized in countering terrorism, focusing on the security-military confrontation, the politics of containment, and economic measures. The third part draws some conclusions about the Algerian approach and the lessons that can be learned for counter-terror, while bearing in mind the mistakes that have been made.
