She is the author of Polarized and Demobilized: Legacies of Authoritarianism in Palestine (Oxford University Press, 2020) and editor of The I.B. Tauris Handbook of Authoritarianism in the Arab World (Bloomsbury Academic, 2026). Her research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including Global Studies Quarterly, PS: Political Science & Politics, and Democratization. She also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Palestine Studies and the Board of Directors of Jewish Currents.​

He also contributed a chapter titled "Kuwait: A Political System in Crisis" to The Making of Contemporary Kuwait (Routledge, 2024). He served on the editorial board of the Journal of Social Sciences at Kuwait University (2022–2026) and on the MENA Project Steering Committee of the American Political Science Association (APSA) from 2023 to December 2025.

He has served on the editorial board of Revue internationale de politique comparée since 2021.

His research focuses on state–society relations, identity politics, political institutions, religious actors, and political economy, . He is the author of Shi'i Clerical Authority in Iraq: The Neo-Traditional Marji'yya and the Transformation of Political Order (Routledge, 2026). He has published extensively in Arabic and English on political and social transformations in Iraq and the wider region.

He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of North Texas (1992) and an MA in Political Science from the University of Missouri–Columbia (1986). He previously served as President of the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Khartoum, Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Social Studies at the University of Khartoum, and Director General of the Academy of Strategic and Security Studies. He was awarded first prize in the Arab Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies for the 2013–2014 cycle. His research focuses on democracy, democratic transitions, political systems, and international relations, particularly in Sudan and the Arab world. He has published numerous academic studies in these fields.​

Professor of political science at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, and a former fellow at the Forum for Transnational Studies in Berlin, Germany. Her research focuses on international relations, contemporary politics and democratization in the Arab world. She obtained her PhD, from Northeastern University, USA, in 2010, writing her dissertation on "Public Diplomacy in the Age of Regional Media," and she has , presented many papers on the roles of Arab and international media in the context of the Arab Spring, and on the obstacles to democratization in Arab countries, and in 2016 she published her book The Arab Intellectual and the Tiananmen Square Syndrome.

She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Edinburgh (2026), an MA in Political Science and International Relations from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (2019), and a BA in International Relations from Qatar University (2017). She previously worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant in the Political Science and International Relations Program at the Doha Institute. Her research interests lie at the intersection of political and historical sociology, anti-colonial thought, and the history of labor and nationalist movements in the Gulf, with a particular focus on labor, oil camps, and forms of social and political resistance. Her research draws on ethnographic methods, archival sources, and cultural texts. She is currently developing her doctoral dissertation into a book.

His research focuses on digital journalism, artificial intelligence, digital verification and fact-checking, open-source intelligence, blockchain technology, and social media. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including Journalism Practice, Journal of Information Technology & Politics, and Frontiers in Blockchain. His recent publications include the co-authored article "Blockchain Solutions for Generative AI Challenges in Journalism" (2024). He also serves as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Blockchain.
